Andrew, Head of Technical Contact Centre

"After spending a considerably part of my career in the financial sector, I was looking for something different. Something that would challenge and inspire me, and develop my leadership skills. But more importantly, a role where I’d be treated as an individual, and not just another number in a big corporate machine. I found all that I was looking for at Sky.

As Head of Technical Contact Centre, it’s my responsibility to ensure that we resolve customer’s technical problems – first time, every time. Whether they relate to Sky TV, Broadband or Talk this responsibility firmly sits at my door.

This involves leading over 1,000 people across a number of contact centres – making sure the relevant communication channels, processes and procedures are in place to achieve a great level of service.

Something that would challenge and inspire me, and develop my leadership skills. But more importantly, a role where I’d be treated as an individual. There’s no doubt that the launch of Sky Broadband has been the most exciting thing by far in my time here. In my experience, the Sky benefits package is really up there with the best.

The Sky Leadership training has been first class. Having spent a year on a programme with colleagues from across Sky, I’ve learnt all about the key elements of business management and how Sky works as a company, from strategic planning to programme making.

There’s no doubt that the launch of Sky Broadband has been the most exciting thing by far in my time here. The speed at which the product and the supporting infrastructure was developed was unreal, as was the drive and passion of everyone involved in making it happen. Just 18 months later, we’re now the UK’s fastest growing internet service provider. It’s a great feeling when the customer shows there appreciation through external broadband awards as well.

andrew_mopIn my experience, the Sky benefits package is really up there with the best. On top of free private medical cover, share options and a pension plan, Sky also has some really ground-breaking benefits, for example the Company operates a car share scheme and will even support you in the purchase of an energy efficient car.

What’s next for me? Well, Sky has already given lots of opportunities, together with lots of fun and enjoyment along the way. So I can’t see me moving on in the short term. But I am looking for a more strategic role, rather than a hands-on operational one, where I can shape the future of how we interact with our customers.
