Software and Product Development roles at Sky

Within these teams, it’s all about looking at new and exciting ways of getting our entertainment to our customers. Here, you’ll focus on one of two areas. In Product Development, you’ll target the concept side of the equation. Working with embedded C on a Linux platform, you’ll take ideas from development-stage prototypes to products that will be seen in over 12 million households. Driving the next generation of online and streaming products, this diverse and constantly evolving technical environment will push your skills to the full. In Software Engineering, you’ll help write brilliant, incredibly detailed software that delivers for our customers. Using Agile in scalable teams, many using continuous deployment, you’ll work with a range of languages including Grails, Ruby, Java, PHP, Scala, Groovy, Cassandra, Heroku, Node and JavaScript.

It all adds up to an area that just bursts with innovation – and has won the awards to prove it. Sky Go was voted App of the Year for two consecutive years, as well as Digital Media Service of the Year. Plus, T3 Magazine voted our Set Top Boxes ‘Entertainment Gadget of the Year’ while What Hi-Fi? named them ‘Product of the Year’.

You’ll be a key part of a fantastically collaborative team who really pull together when the pressure’s on. And because we rely so heavily on technology and innovation, we’ll make sure you have access to the best resources and training.

Requirements

A mind full of ideas and the determination to see them through are an essential part of working here, because much of what we create has never been done before. Passionate about technology and what’s coming next, you’ll also need to have the skills and enthusiasm to communicate clearly, listen, discuss and dissect complex problems.

Creative and Brand roles at Sky

In this area, you could be working in one of two teams.

As a creative, you’ll be working on hugely exciting challenges, defining and shaping the creative vision for two of the biggest brands on the planet in Sky Sports and Sky News. You could be making title sequences for huge sporting events or shooting promos with huge stars in great locations. Either way, you’ll be pushing your creative output to the limit. The challenges are diverse and no two days or two briefs will be the same, but you won’t have to do it on your own. As well as working with a supportive team of ingenious thinkers, we’ll give you all the training and development you need.

Join the Brand Team and you’ll be part of a specialist team skilled in brand development, communications and campaign planning, working to ensure that our products and services are always ‘on brand’ and seen in the best possible light.

Requirements

With your creative, curious mind and sharp, intelligent lateral thinking, you’ll be great at solving problems. Self-motivated and a real team player, you’ll be happy to turn your hand to anything from a line of copy, to a colour swatch for a sofa cushion on a shoot. We like our creatives to be great all-rounders, but realise that our training can play a huge part in this, so don’t worry if your talents are focused in one area. If you’ve got the attitude and professionalism we’re looking for, we’ll give you the right training to reach your potential.
