Graduate FAQs

Early Careers posted on 15 Sep

Thanks for your interest in joining us on one of our brilliant graduate programmes – we’re always happy to hear from you but to save time we’ve pulled together a list of commonly-asked questions.

Do I need a Visa to work with you?

We welcome applications from everyone, but you’ll need to have the right to work in the UK when you start work with us.  If you’re from an EEA country (excluding Croatia) then you shouldn’t need a work permit or visa.   If you’re applying from outside of the EEA (including Croatia) and don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, then we can’t guarantee we’d be able to sponsor you.   We look at all applications individually and make our decisions on a case-by-case basis in line with UK immigration rules

Are your graduate programmes permanent roles?

All of our graduate programmes are permanent roles. The duration stated refers to the length of the programme, usually influenced by the required rotations or training/qualifications you’ll undertake. Once the graduate programme ends, you’ll move into an existing team on a permanent basis. We’ll work with you to identify a role that suits your interests and preference but also what fits for the business.

What factors do you take into account through my application?

We ask you to attach your CV to verify the details on your application and to use at later stages of the process. You should ensure it’saccurate and contains enough detail to discuss at interview. However, for graduate programmes we don’t use your CV OR covering letter (such as work experience/university studied at) to decide whether to progress your application. This decision is based solely on the free text application questions so you need to ensure you clearly show why the role you’ve applied for is of interest to you and ensure you answer the set questions carefully. Other than the Property graduate programme, which requires you to have an undergraduate degree following the RICS APC pathway, your application will be considered regardless of your degree subject.

How many programmes can I apply for?

We only accept one application per person so you should review all programmes and choose the one most closely matched to your interests and career aspirations.

When will I hear about the progress of my application?

For all programmes except Software Academy (Developer and Developer Operations) applications are due to close mid-November. At the very latest you should expect to hear back from us after this. However we hope and expect to get back to you much sooner than this.

I have drafted my application but when I have logged back onto the system to submit it, I cannot open the draft copy, why?

If you are using Internet Explorer, switch on the compatibility mode of IE10 and the issue should be resolved.

Should this not resolve the issue there are two further solutions:

  • Use Google Chrome and/or Mozilla Firefox.
  • Withdraw your application and then resubmit it. Should you do this, please ensure you submit your application in one sitting as the editing issue arises when you need to log back in or when your session times out due to inactivity.
